Title: The Executive Guide to Integrated Talent
Management
Editors: Kevin Oakes and Pat Galagan
Stars: ***
Most would agree that today’s organizations could do a better job
managing talent. In this book, a collection of academic and business
professionals demonstrate how companies can be more effective in this
area. Integration is the key.
The point is made that significant progress has been made in business
over the years by integrating various operational processes. It’s high time
HR gets with the program! In order to optimize talent management there
must be integration within the various HR units (Recruiting, Compensation
and Rewards, Performance Management, etc.), as well as the business
units that they serve. Sound advice.
Ironically, the effort to pull this book together, a book with more than 15
authors each contributing a chapter, presented the editors with a
significant integration challenge. Although there are occasional issues
with the flow, the book contains a fair amount of valuable tips, especially
beneficial for the HR professional.
